Benny and Betty the Bivalves
How heavy do you think these two Oysters are?
For the 3rd consecutive year, Oyster Festival is here once again. This time is different though, Benny & Betty the bivalves have decided to join us and we are way too excited to show them around Byron Bay.
These two Gigantic lovers were brought to us by our legendary friend Lucy from shuckoysters.com.au Lucy is our local and of course lovely Oyster supplier within the Northern Rivers and Gold Coast region. Shuck Oysters is the exclusive supplier of Sydney Rock Oysters ‘Appellation’. It is one of the largest Oyster Farming Groups in Australian and what’s even better, their profits go directly back to their shareholders.
What about Benny & Betty? Well, the bivacious duo were born in the Clyde River at Batemans Bay on the south coast of NSW. They were born Femaie approximately 4-5 years ago and are actually Pacific Oysters, scientifically named crassostrea gigas. They met last year, joined hand in hand to begin their journey to Byron Bay.
We are keen to show them the best spots in Byron Bay and would love any recommendations from our Byronion friends. Elements of Byron have joined the fan club and are offering the ultimate stay’cation in the Botanica Villa for up to two people. Take a guess at how heavy Benny & Betty weigh, together of course to go in the draw to win ‘the perfect day in Byron Bay’
Follow us @balconybyronbay to see the Mollusc Madness Benny & Betty will get up too.
