Byron Bay’s Best Bits
Wondering what to do this weekend?
Byron is jam packed with with weekend fun.
Whether you’re a local or a holiday maker; if you find yourself with a free weekend in Byron Bay apart from the usual and oh so enjoyable ‘chilling’, there are endless activities to get involved in, beaches to explore, markets to meander and restaurants to sample. We know sometimes it can all be a little overwhelming so to help you out we have gone ahead and put together our list of Byron Bay’s best bits… in our opinion anyway!
• Don’t go past a lighthouse walk! Arguably one of the best walking tracks in the country, the path follows world famous surfing beaches and wraps around the most eastern tip of Australia. Spot the abundant sea life, greet the friendly locals and admire the grace of the surfers dancing on the water at The Pass.
• Explore the many beaches, swim in the crystal clear blue or head out to Julian rocks – Byron Bays very own Marine Park for a diving adventure.
• Hit up the team at Soul Surf School for the ultimate learn to surf adventure on some of the world’s best waves.
• Find your inner Zen at one of the many yoga and meditation centers in town.
• Wander the streets for some seriously good shopping. You’ll be delighted by the variety of local designer and high end fashion, creative home wares and inspired gifts.
• Don a hat, grab a pushbike and score yourself some sweet bargains on the Saturday morning garage sale trail.
• Head to the beach hotel (Top Pub or Beachy as its colloquially known) for some live music and afternoon beers in the sun.
• Have a palm reading. In front of the post office you’ll find a local legend who has been reading the palms of bay visitors for years and we hear he is pretty good.
• Stop by Stone & Wood Brewery for tour. $20 will get you a 60 min tour followed by beer, beer and beer. We guarantee you won’t find better value anywhere else in the bay.
• You’ve got to eat somewhere. Head to Balcony in the center of town and sample, Executive Chef Sean Connolly’s expertly shucked oysters and share plates. Wash it all down with some seriously good cocktails.
